Abstract

This paper explores how leadership influences the effective use of technology in higher education institutions. It emphasizes that the presence of digital tools alone does not guarantee meaningful impact. The paper underscores the need for leaders who are not only forward thinking but also responsive to the rapidly changing digital landscape. It further highlights the importance of creating an enabling environment where lecturers, students, and administrative staff are supported through continuous professional development, mentorship, and collaborative practices. It also recognizes persistent challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, resistance to change, and unequal access to digital resources, particularly in developing and resource-constrained contexts. Ultimately, the researchers argue that maximizing technology in higher education is fundamentally a leadership-driven process that requires deliberate planning, inclusive policies, and sustained commitment to capacity building and institutional growth. It also notes that strong leadership ensures that technology is not just available, but meaningfully integrated in ways that improve educational outcomes and position institutions to remain relevant and competitive in an increasingly digital world.
