DETERMINANTS OF EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ABOH MBAISE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF IMO STATE.

The study investigated the determinants of examination malpractice in public secondary schools in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. The research design used in the study was the survey research design. The population of the study consisted of all the public secondary school students in the local government area (2,830) while the sample for the study consisted of four hundred and eighty-two (482) drawn through cluster sampling procedure. Self-structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection and the research questions were answered using mean. Results of findings revealed that Moral laxity, lack of facilities and undue pressure from parent were determinants of examination malpractice among students from the area. Based on these findings, it was recommended that Government and communities should collaboratively provide facilities for schools to ensure that teaching and learning is not only interesting but effective.
