YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ETHICAL AND VALUES EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Youth empowerment through ethical and values-based education is crucial for achieving sustainable national development. As the global landscape faces challenges such as economic inequality, environmental degradation, political instability, and social unrest, the need for a well-rounded and ethically conscious generation of young people becomes increasingly urgent. This paper explores the pivotal role of ethical education in shaping responsible, innovative, and socially conscious youth who can contribute to national and global progress. Ethical and values-based education equips youth with the necessary tools to navigate complex issues, promote social cohesion, and engage in sustainable development practices. However, challenges such as inadequate access to quality education, cultural and societal barriers, and political instability hinder the full realization of youth potential. This paper also highlights strategies to overcome these obstacles, including curriculum reform, youth-led initiatives, and collaboration with civil society and international organizations.
